Summer is Here!

Spring has rushed into Summer!

Many of us have had quite an early spring, but India is getting an even earlier summer. Already daytime temperatures are reaching 100 degrees.  When the peak of summer hits those temps will reach 120+ degrees. Ouch!

So how in the world do people stay cool in India? There is rarely air-conditioning the homes in India. What they use instead are fans and swamp coolers to make the temperatures bearable. Quite an awesome invention, the swamp cooler is basically a powerful box fan that blows air over a pan of water. As the water evaporates it cools the air that is being blown into the house. These are a must for a hot and dry climate like the norther plains of India.

Everyone at Asha House and BTTR is so thankful for the new house and everyone who made that possible, but one thing that we still need in the new house are fans and swamp coolers. There are already some fans, but not enough to keep everyone cool. With the heat the way it is already we have to get them soon!

We need to raise $800 to cover the costs to prepare for the summer that is already upon us. If you want to make a tax-deductible donation toward this please click the link below, check Miscellaneous Needs and write “ASHA SUMMER” in the designation box. Thank you so much for helping us meet this need.
